New Jersey Bar Reciprocity
New Jersey Court Rules 1:24-1, 1:24-4, and 1:27-1 govern Admission by Motion (effective September 1, 2016). Applicants must have passed a bar examination elsewhere and been primarily engaged in the active practice of law for five of the seven years immediately preceding the application. Additional Requirements
New Jersey Admission by Motion requirements include:
Law Degree. A J.D. from an ABA-approved law school.
Bar Examination. Must have passed a bar examination in another U.S. jurisdiction.
Practice of Law. Active practice for five of the seven years immediately preceding the application.
MPRE. A score of 75 or greater on the MPRE, or a qualifying law-school professional responsibility course grade (commonly C− or better). No score-age limit under current NCBE AOM chart summaries.
New Jersey Course. Complete the required New Jersey ethics/professionalism course before admission.
