Minnesota Bar Exam Format
The Minnesota bar exam is currently the legacy Uniform Bar Exam (“UBE”): two MPTs, six MEE essays, and the MBE. Minnesota plans to administer the NextGen UBE beginning July 2027 (legacy through February 2027). Confirm current rules with the Board of Law Examiners and NCBE.

MBE Score Transfer
Minnesota accepts transferred MBE scores under Rule 7B (confirm current limits with BLE).
UBE Score Transfer
Minnesota accepts a portable legacy UBE score of 260 or greater earned within 36 months. NextGen transfers are accepted from July 2026 at a minimum of 620 (interim threshold; confirm before filing).

Legacy UBE: 260. NextGen local cut score: TBA (court has indicated 620+ for transfers).
Retaking the Minnesota Bar Exam
