Oregon Bar Reciprocity

Oregon RFA 15.1 (Admission Based on Comity; replaced reciprocity RFA 15.05 effective July 27, 2022) governs admission without examination. Oregon does not publish a reciprocal list. Applicants must have been licensed at least 24 consecutive months and engaged in full-time practice (≥30 hours/week average) for 24 of the past 48 months, and must have passed a bar examination somewhere.

Admission on Comity (Criteria-Based)

Attorneys from any qualifying U.S. jurisdiction may seek RFA 15.1 admission if they meet the rule. The map below reflects that model.

Additional Requirements

Law Degree. J.D./LL.B. from an ABA school or RFA 3.1(3) alternative.

Bar Exam. Must have passed a bar exam (diploma privilege alone is insufficient).

Practice. Full-time practice for 24 of the past 48 months; licensed ≥24 consecutive months; no administrative/disciplinary suspension in the prior 60 months.

MPRE. Not required for RFA 15.1.

CLE / PLF. 15 hours Oregon practice/ethics CLE (±6 months of filing); Professional Liability Fund coverage (or equivalent).

Oregon Application Procedure

Apply through Oregon State Bar Admissions (comity / RFA 15.1). Complete the application within six months.
