Washington Bar Exam Format

Beginning with the July 2026 administration, Washington administers the NextGen Uniform Bar Exam. Legacy MBE, MEE, and MPT components are no longer administered (final legacy sitting: February 2026). Applicants must complete the Washington Law Component (WLC) before admission. Confirm current rules with the Washington State Bar Association and NCBE.

MBE Score Transfer
Washington does not accept MBE scores transferred from other jurisdictions.

UBE Score Transfer
Washington accepts portable scores: legacy UBE 260 or greater, or NextGen UBE 610 or greater, earned within 40 months.

Passing Score
NextGen UBE: 610. Former legacy UBE cut score was 260.

Retaking the Washington Bar Exam
