Wisconsin Bar Exam Format
Beginning with the July 2026 administration, Wisconsin administers the legacy Uniform Bar Exam (“UBE”) for applicants who are not eligible for diploma privilege (two MPTs, six MEE essays, and the MBE). Applicants must complete the 21-hour Wisconsin Law & Practice educational component. Wisconsin plans to administer the NextGen UBE beginning July 2028 (legacy through February 2028). Confirm current rules with the Wisconsin Court System and NCBE.
MBE Score Transfer
Wisconsin accepts transferred MBE scores (confirm current limits with Admissions).
UBE Score Transfer
Wisconsin accepts a portable legacy UBE score of 260 or greater earned within 36 months. NextGen transfer rules and cut score TBA.

Retaking the Wisconsin Bar Exam
Unsuccessful applicants may reapply. A prior failure of the Wisconsin bar exam may block admission on proof of practice elsewhere (see Wisconsin reciprocity).
